Application
Motomuck Cycle Cleaner takes a few applications to create it's protective layer on the base material, as it first needs to get rid of all the old grime and old care products that might be on the surface. So for the first couple applications use product undiluted and give it a helping hand to get through the old grime. Once the protective coat has developed it will change the way you clean forever!
Step one
- Spray on entire bike over wet or dry dirt. If you hosed off excessive dirt, leave a few minutes to drip dry before applying as water can form a dilution barrier on the surface.
- Use a brush only on excessively stubborn dirt.
Step two
- Leave to soak in for 5-10 minutes, allowing Cyclemuck Clean to penetrate through the dirt.
Step three
- Spray off with a jet of water and watch the muck fall off.
Uses
Cyclemuck Clean can be used safely on:
- whole bike including brake discs and pads, groupsets, chains, suspension, tyres, cables and saddles.
- electric bikes, bike racks, helmets, riding gear and tools.
- aluminium, titanium, anodised surfaces, seals, plastics, rubber, glass and carbon fibre.
Caution
Don’t apply on hot surface. Streaking can occur if Cyclemuck Clean tries to remove certain existing care products. Some new Nano coatings used in the industry don’t allow washing with anything other than water alone. Test product on hidden spot to ensure compatibility, prior to application.
Dilution
- Undiluted. In this ratio it deposits the protective layer on the virgin surface once all muck is removed.
- Dilute 50:50 with water for regular cleaning. You will notice after about 5 washes, that tiny bits of dirt in heavily soiled areas will still be evident after a wash, and that the surface finish will be less shiny. Just use once as undiluted to reapply the protective coating and regain full shine.
- Dilute 20:80 with water for scrooge cleaning or body panels and guards. Spray on diluted solution. Sponge all surfaces. Spray off with pressure cleaner or jet of water.
FAQ's
- Why do my brand of MTB forks go dull when washing with Motomuck?
Answer: It has been found on a certain brand of MTB forks, that other cleaners do the same thing, but it takes them about 6 or 7 washes. With Motomuck it does it with one clean which makes it look bad.
The final coating on the forks is not a paint clear coat, but rather a wax type coating that ends up getting removed as Motomuck thinks it's foreign dirt. It can be repaired by getting some automotive wax, and wiping/buffing the surface again. ( don't use silicone as this ends up in the brakes and permanently contaminates them. )
We have seen this on an aftermarket brand of spokes as well.
If the forks have a proper paint clearcoat on, you will not have this problem. Sometimes they use a wax coating when they are trying to achieve a Matt or Satin style look.
- Can I dilute the Cyclemuck?
Answer: Yes you can, please see our dilution tab for further information.
- Is the Cyclemuck safe to use on my brakes?
Answer: Yes perfectly safe. Please don't use any other products on your bicycle that contain any silicone. It is the silicone that contaminates the brakes when you wash the bike the next time.
- Is Motomuck Bike Cleaner safe to use on bearings?
Answer: If your bearings and seals are new, you will not have a problem as Motomuck actually keeps the seals soft and supple. If you have used another cleaner on your bike, the chances are it is an alkaline cleaner, which damages the seals. Motomuck will then get past the seals, and do what it was designed to do, and clean out the grease.
- I want to use Motomuck and I care about the environment. Is it biodegradable and non-toxic?
Answer: Statement from the product MSDS document is: "Product not expected to be toxic to the environment based on the calculation of ingredients"
However it does have a surfactant in it, and you know what it's like when you get soap into your eyes, so not great for the fish if you washing directly into the water. Fine if you washing off onto lawn/grass etc.
