PH LEVELS IN AUTO CLEANERS

The majority of cleaners and car wash soaps on the market are high alkaline cleaners. The reason for this is that it is very difficult to make a cleaner that is PH Neutral that actually works, and also to make a high alkaline cleaner is much cheaper to produce.
The aggressiveness of cleaners on the PH scale is not as most people expect. For example if you take a cleaner with a PH of 8, it will be 2x ( twice as ) more aggressive than pure water at PH 7. If you take PH 9, that is 10x more aggressive. If you take PH10 it is 100x more aggressive. PH11 is 1000x, PH12 is 10 000x and PH13 is 100 000x more aggressive. Most cleaners are in the range of PH11 - PH14 and that is why many cause plastics to fade, aluminium to dull and bodywork to just look old after a few months washing.

Most of these cleaners recommend you to first wet the surface before applying highly diluted mixtures, as spraying directly onto the surfaces causes instant damage. This damage is usually permanent and can only be masked by using other products like silicone to make the surface look better. There are also many other products that will change dulled black plastics, back to black, but when aluminium has dulled to white, or black run marks have occured, this is usually permanent.

Keep this in mind next time you purchase any cleaning product for your automobile, motorcycle or bicycle as it will make a big difference to the long term appearance of your pride and joy. Whether it be your Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Ducati, Harley Davidson, Triumph, Giant, Trek, Specialized, Avanti, La Pierre, Kona, Apollo, Merida, Marin or any other brand, you will gain from this.
